An SEIU front group calling itself “Patriot Majority” has created the website: TheTeaPartyIsOver.org. Obviously, this is wishful thinking on the part of the Purple People Beaters since the Tea Party continues to stand with that founding patriot who once said: “I have not yet begun to fight.”

TheTeaPartyIsOver.org is in the news because Lee Doren noted their connection to SEIU via Patriot Majority. HotAir’s Ed Morrissey took a look at Patriot Majority’s 2008 donors and figures that $7.4 million of the $8.2 million they raised came from unions. AFSCME was the largest donor ($5.8 million) and SEIU was in second place ($770k).

The point that Morrissey makes is about campaign finance reform. Politicians frequently bemoan the money in politics and the whole sordid process of modern campaigns. We know the disinfectant for cleaning up that mess: sunlight. Campaign finance reform would benefit from greater transparency, so why not require fronts like Patriot Majority and TheTeaPartyIsOver to identify their union sponsorship on their websites?
