It seems that Andy Stern has Jumped onto the “Attack the Tea Party” band wagon again, but this time he didn’t send Thugs to do his dirty work.
There is a new movement online call The Tea Party is Over. On the Front page of their Website is their Mission and Strategy:
Our Mission
To prevent the Tea Party’s dangerous ideas from gaining legislative traction.
Our StrategyOur Strategy is simple. This movement is a fad. Some of their ideas include the belief that programs like Social Security and Medicare are socialistic and should never have been created in the first place and that President Obama is a Socialist. Other ideas include undermining the legitimacy of the federal government in favor of a radical rightwing form of state’s rights. We need to prevent their dangerous ideas from gaining a legislative foothold. So our strategy is to spread the truth about their dangerous ideas and prevent their policies from taking root in America.
Who is behind this new movement? According to an Article on HotAir.com, SEIU has been a major Contributor to “TheTeaPartyisOver.org”.
Lee Doren looks at the case of a new campaign effort called TheTeaPartyIsOver.org, and who’s behind it:
It is paid for by the American Public Policy Committee. Well, according to opensecrets.org, the two donors for American Public Policy Committee this year are Patriot Majority and Patriot Majority West.
However, according to opensecrets.org, the 2nd largest contributor in 2008 to Patriot Majority was SEIU and other top Unions around America. I imagine the diversion of Union money gets much deeper than this.
Out of $8.2 million total in contributions from the top 15 donors, $7.4 million explicitly came from unions. The two largest contributors in the 2008 cycle were AFSCME and SEIU, which are heavily allied with Democrats and the Obama administration. The two unions represent government workers at the state and federal levels, and in fact in combination provide almost all representation of public-sector employees.
Really this is no Surprise considering Andy Stern released this statement in September of last year:
“This is a moment of profound change for this country–from kitchen tables to town halls to the floor of the Senate, this nation is engaged in a vigorous and heated debate about how we rebuild our economy, solve our national healthcare crisis and restore the American Dream.
“As has always happened when progressive change is in the air, the backlash gets fierce, ugly and anti-American. This time is no different. Right now, there is an insidious and coordinated effort on the part of the extreme right to target individuals and grassroots community groups as a way to silence the voices of women and men who have suffered the most under 8 years of right wing policies.
“These extremists will attempt to shut down and shout down anyone with a different point of view.
“Let’s be clear who we are talking about–call them attack dogs, call them Teabaggers, call them Glenn Beck–these are the same folks who cheered the policies that crashed our economy.Who make up lies about death panels to try to kill healthcare reform. Who scream about democracy while denying workers a voice on the job. Who target anyone who poses a threat to a status quo that for too long has rewarded greedy CEOs while leaving people who work out in the cold . . .
So it seems that Andy Stern is not only willing to send Thugs to a town hall to beat up on Tea party Protesters, but actually put his money where his mouth is….
Considering SEIU contributed almost $800,000 to the “TeaPartyisOver” campaign, it seems he has a Big Mouth to cover.
